What is Biodiversity Net Gain, and how does it affect you? 

On 12 February 2024, the Government introduced new biodiversity regulations in England. The introduction of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) is aimed at creating and improving natural habitat. The UK is in the bottom 10% globally for biodiversity.

With the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973 – which governs marriage and divorce law in the UK and Wales – now 50 years old, a review has been commissioned. The review is to find out whether this legislation is still useful in helping the Courts and the Judiciary reach fair settlements for divorcing couples – or whether it’s time for an overhaul.

In 2023, the maternity service at Leicester Royal Infirmary was reviewed by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) with the overall rating being downgraded to “Requires Improvement” and “Inadequate” in respect of safety.

Does my van need an operator’s licence?

You usually only need an operator’s licence if you operate goods vehicles or public service vehicles over 3.5t.

However, in 2022 the UK introduced new regulations so that certain vans between 2.5t and 3.5t require an operators’ licence or they could be operating unlawfully.
