Your eye health

When was the last time you got your eyes tested?

Despite our eyes being one of the most important parts of the body, they are often overlooked when trying to look after our health.

This is despite the devastating impact of neglecting our eyes – partial, or full, loss of sight.

Vision loss

Vision loss can be devastating, particularly if it is unexpected or could have been avoided.

It is therefore paramount to take care of your eyes: eat well, avoid smoking and wear eye protection when in bright light or sunlight.

You can experience vision loss simulators here:

An insight into your health

Notwithstanding the importance of looking after your eyes to mitigate or even prevent sight loss, eye tests can also reveal and even contribute to diagnoses of other health conditions.

The condition of our eyes can reveal things such as diabetes, glaucoma, and even high blood pressure.

Medical negligence resulting in vision loss

Sadly, many people suffer vision loss because of medical negligence. This can be because of a delayed diagnosis and/or treatment, damaging or affecting vision.

Eyesight can be affected by numerous different conditions, and it is often important that they are identified and treated quickly to reduce the risk of permanent damage.

Medical negligence claims relating to eye health include:

  • Misdiagnosis and delayed diagnosis of multiple treatments including Keratoconus, diabetic retinopathy, high intraocular pressure, glaucoma and others
  • Incorrectly treated traumatic eye injuries
  • Delay in diagnosis of and treatment for retinal detachment
  • Incorrect surgical treatment
  • Incorrect prescriptions
