Trusts
What is a Trust?
Putting your assets in a trust enables you to manage and protect your wealth, whether it’s in the form of property, money or investments, so it can be safely passed on to the next generation or whoever you would like to benefit. The trust is then managed and controlled by your appointed trustees.
You might decide to set up a trust to provide for your children or loved ones; manage compensation received after a personal injury or to reduce the amount of inheritance tax you have to pay. There are various types of trust available depending on who you want to pass your assets to and when you want your beneficiaries to have access to your assets.
Setting up a trust can be a complex affair, and it is important that your trust is precisely worded so that it accurately reflects your needs.
At Rothera Bray we can guide you through the process of making a trust including advising you on your options and suggesting the most appropriate trust for you depending on your circumstances and requirements.
Why use Rothera Bray for Trusts?
You will be assigned a member of our private client team who will work with you to find out more about your situation and your assets in order to provide you with advice tailored to your needs and requirements.
We can advise you on all aspects of trust and trust law including setting up and administering trusts.
We can advise trustees on their responsibilities, risks and duties in the role.
We can help with trust tax planning.
We can advise you on dealing with legacies to children under 18.
We can advise you on asset protection.
We can also advise on taxation of trusts and efficient tax planning, especially in relation to inheritance tax.
We can help you with:
- Discretionary Trusts

Highly recommend Lucy Pettitt and team at Mapperley for conveyancing. They’re clear, responsive, easy to contact in a way that suits you. Miles ahead of previous experience of solicitors for buying a property. First experience of selling a property and all went smoothly.

I've been a client of Rothera Bray for the last few years while negotiating a somewhat lengthy divorce process. It should have been fairly straightforward but there were issues with the other side... However my solicitor (Sarah) was extremely patient, supportive and professional throughout and we finally got the required outcome. I was extremely grateful for all Rothera Bray did in supporting me through the process and I would definitely recommend them to others.

Emily and Laura were amazing - [problems with other solicitors in the chain meant our move was delayed several times and made me incredibly grateful to be able to trust my solicitors to act promptly with integrity, honest and competence.

Brilliant service from Julekha and Sarrina . They have successfully completed the conveyancing of one of our properties for our organisation. They are prompt, accurate and responsive consistently. And in a profession not always known for great customer service these two people stand out with a winning formula! All for a reasonable fee. I can’t endorse them both highly enough. Wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

Engaged Rothera Bray to update parents Wills and sort Powers of Attorney etc. Was a little apprehensive at the start as parents are elderly, not in great health and struggle with this kind of thing anyway. However, thanks to the wonderful Talita Fantauzzi it couldn’t have been a more smooth nor painless process for them . Not only is she extremely professional and knows her stuff, her patience and kindness with my mother and father were second to none! A true asset to your business- couldn’t recommend her enough !

I recently had a legal issue I needed assistance with and was told of Rothera Bray by an acquaintance. From my very first conversation with a very pleasant lady called Rebeca, my mind was put at ease. Further along the line I was then in conversations with Chelsey, who too was great. Very professional and informative. I was kept up to date on a daily basis and the two people I mentioned truly made a terrible time, very manageable. I cannot recommend Rothera Bray solicitors enough.
