Will Aid is a scheme that sees solicitors across the UK volunteer some of their time and expertise throughout November to write wills for local people in exchange for a donation to one of nine charities: ActionAid, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save The Children, Sightsavers, Age UK, SCIAF (Scotland) and Trocaire (Northern Ireland).

Rothera Bray has been taking part in Will Aid since 1989; to date the firm has raised £47,954 for the scheme and is also one of the top 20 fundraising firms nationally.

Kirsten Wood, Wills and Probate partner at Rothera Bray said: “We have taken part in Will Aid for the past 29 years because as a firm we feel it is an important campaign to be a part of. By getting involved everyone benefits – we are not only able to ensure that people who don’t currently have a will are able to make one, but the donation they contribute is going to nine great UK charities.

“We are thrilled that our participation in the scheme and the generosity of our clients has resulted in us being able to raise so much money for such a worthy cause.”

John Coulthurst, Community Legacy Manager from the British Red Cross, one of the nine charities to benefit from Will Aid visited Rothera Bray Beeston branch office in April to present the firm with a certificate highlighting their incredible fundraising efforts in 2018.

He said: “We are so very grateful to clients of Rothera Bray Solicitors for their generous contribution to Will Aid last year of £5,355.

“Contributions like this help charities such as the Red Cross, who then use those donations to reach people in crisis, both here in the UK and all around the world. This year, with the help of legal firms like Rothera Bray, we’ll be able to help even more people at home and across the world.”

Will Aid runs annually and will be taking place again this November. Suggested voluntary donations to the scheme are £95 for a single Will or £150 for a pair of simple mirror wills. If you wish to make a will through the scheme but your situation is more complex, our solicitors can discuss a separate fee with you for extra work undertaken outside of the Will Aid scheme.
