Rothera Bray proud to support National Road Victim Month 2022

National Road Victim Month

August marks National Road Victim Month, a campaign held each August to remember those who have been injured or killed on our roads and to promote road safety.

Written by

The campaign is organised by RoadPeace, a national charity for road crash victims in the UK which provides information and support services to people bereaved or seriously injured in road crashes. The organisation also engages in evidence-based policy and campaigning work to fight for justice for victims and reduce road danger.

Figures from the Department for Transport show that in 2021 1,390 deaths and 23,140 serious injuries were reported from road accidents.

In June 2022 the government introduced new changes to the Highway Code, including a hierarchy of road users. The new rules give pedestrians priority when crossing the road over cars, vans and heavy goods vehicles, to reflect the fact that they are the most at-risk road users in the event of a collision.

At Rothera Bray we are proud to support National Road Victim Month. Our Serious Injury team have significant experience assisting those who have suffered life changing injuries or lost loved ones as a result of a road traffic accident. We help our clients to claim the maximum amount of compensation, as well as ensuring that they have access to the best treatments and rehabilitation.

Hannah Manewell, Associate Solicitor Advocate in Rothera Bray’ Serious Injury department said: “The Serious Injury team at Rothera Bray are committed to helping clients who have been affected by fatal or serious accidents, ensuring that they receive the compensation and support needed to rebuild their lives.

“Whilst changes to the Highway Code are a step in the right direction, it is clear more needs to be done to protect road users, especially pedestrians. We believe that those people who are injured or killed in a road accident should be recognised as more than a statistic and raising awareness through supporting National Road Victim Month is something we feel passionate about.”
