The acquisition consists of 15 staff including seven legal advisors, three of which will join as partners, increasing the headcount to 135 at Rothera Bray, with the addition of city centre premises located next to Derby Cathedral coming under the umbrella of Rothera Bray’ four branch locations in Nottingham.

Both firms share a rich history and legacy in their neighbouring legal markets with Rothera Bray having been established in 1824 and JH Powell & Co in 1873. With closely aligned service offerings and a similar ethos around building highly personal and bespoke relationships with clients.

Rothera Bray CEO, Christina Yardley said: “We are very excited to be joining forces with JH Powell & Co and we welcome their highly skilled and experienced team into the Rothera Bray family. JH Powell & Co operate with similar values to our own, particularly around their ethos for developing lasting client relationships, which is something that underpins the history and longevity of both of our firms.

“We found a natural synergy in our desire to increase the quality and depth of service we can offer to our clients. We’re incredibly excited to bring the Rothera Bray name to the Derby market through this collaborative partnership with JH Powell & Co.”
