A Legal Legacy

Our story began on Fletcher Gate, right in the heart of Nottingham. Over the past two centuries, we have been a cornerstone of the region’s legal landscape, deeply connected to the Rothera family since the 1850s. The Rotheras, renowned for their service as City of Nottingham coroners, played a significant role in shaping our firm. Today, we have expanded our reach into Derby and Leicestershire, reinforcing our unwavering commitment to serving the East Midlands with excellence.

Documenting Two Centuries of Change

The film – researched and produced by the team, with help from Nottingham Local Studies Library and historian Andy Nicholson – captures the evolution of legal practice. From quills and candlelight to typewriters and today’s digital tools, it showcases how Rothera Bray has embraced progress while maintaining its core values.

Looking Ahead: 200 Deeds That Make a Difference

While we take pride in our past, we are equally focused on the future. As part of our 2025 plans, we are launching 200 Deeds That Make a Difference, an initiative designed to create meaningful change in our community. Our key focus areas include:

  • Reducing Homelessness and Poverty
  • Sustainability
  • Social Mobility

In addition, we seek to enhance our workplace culture through equality, diversity, health, and wellbeing policies for employees.

 A Message from the CEO

Christina Yardley, our CEO and narrator of the film, expressed her pride in leading the firm during this milestone year:

“Celebrating 200 years of Rothera Bray is both an honour and a responsibility. As we reflect on generations of dedicated solicitors and support teams, we’re inspired to carry their legacy forward. Our 200 Deeds That Make a Difference campaign reaffirms our commitment to being a force for good – in our community, for our clients, and within our workplace.”

As we step into the next chapter of our journey, we remain dedicated to delivering exceptional legal services while making a lasting impact. Here’s to the future of Rothera Bray – and to the next 200 years of excellence.
