Main purpose of the role
Dealing with and leading on IP matters to include:
- securing clients Intellectual Property Rights
- registering patents, trademarks and other relevant Intellectual Property Rights
- drafting and reviewing licensing agreements
- providing advice on non-contentious and contentious matters, including issues of passing off and infringement
- advising clients in relation to all aspects of their cases and taking appropriate action throughout their particular matter
- providing detailed and tailored advice to clients through skilled representation and personal support whilst providing an excellent client experience.
Knowledge, skills and experience
- excellent client facing skills and the ability to nurture existing clients and third party relationships
- ability to prioritise work and to work to strict timescales where required
- technical excellence
- strong academic background
- strong negotiation skills
- ability to support the successful development of the firm in line with its overall objectives including client care
- participating in marketing activities and actively seek cross referral opportunities and to market the firm’s services
- maintaining good professional working relationships with external institutions and organisations
- a willingness to work closely with other departments within the firm on joint projects
- a commitment to driving the growth and future development of the department, the business of the firm as a whole and assisting in the continued growth of the client base
- promoting and publicising the firm through professionalism
