Drug Driving
Being caught driving under the influence of drugs is a very serious offence and could result in a custodial sentence, yet it is an offence that can easily be committed unknowingly, especially if it was caused as a result of consuming legal or medicinal drugs.
As of 2015 a new drug driving offence was introduced which made it possible to be prosecuted for driving whilst unfit through drugs and driving with excess drugs. This offence includes legal limits for both certain legal prescription drugs often used and illegal drugs.
If you are pulled over by the police because they suspect you of drug driving you may be asked to undergo a Field Impairment Test to determine whether or not you are fit to drive. If you are considered to have failed this test then you will need to attend a police station for a blood test.
If you are convicted of drug driving you will face a driving ban of at least 12 months, a criminal record and a maximum fine of £5000.
At Rothera Bray our motorist defence team are aware of the repercussions you may face for drug driving allegations. We will discuss the allegation in detail with you, including reviewing the strength of the prosecution’s case against you to decide on the most successful strategies to use for a successful defence.
We have a site dedicated solely to Motoring Offences whilst still using the same expert Transport solicitors, so if you’re looking for more information about types of offences, our team, where we operate or case studies from some of our previous clients, then head over to KeepMeOnTheRoad. Following the sad loss of my mother we sort the professional services of Rothera Bray in particular Nelissa Hicks. Since our very first face to face meeting with Nelissa and her colleague both my husband and I felt confident and thoroughly informed of the process we were now undertaking. We were contacted regularly with updates and any query raised was dealt with by Nelissa immediately. This gave us peace of mind at a difficult time. We were so impressed with the team at Rothera Bray that we are using their conveyancing department for a house sale too which has proved to us the professionalism is throughout the company. I would highly recommend this company if you need sound advice from a pro active, trustworthy solicitor.

I recently used this firm to deal with my late aunts estate. They were very knowledgeable, efficient and approachable. The whole process was explained in detail and I was kept updated along the way. A special mention goes to Sarah Simpson as her customer service was excellent. She dealt with everything I asked or needed doing straight away and I trusted her completely to do what she said she would. A rarity in this day and age. I would highly recommend this firm of solicitors .
