With a strong focus on work-life balance, we offer flexible and hybrid working options, along with a range of wellbeing initiatives to help our team stay healthy and engaged. Rothera Bray is a firm where collaboration, inclusivity, and personal growth take centre stage. Our team is built on mutual respect, empowering individuals to manage their work, thrive in their roles, and feel genuinely valued. We trust you to get on with the job, without micromanaging or monitoring you.
We prioritise a healthy work-life balance, offering flexible and hybrid working options alongside wellbeing support. Our commitment to diversity ensures a workplace where skills and potential are the foundation for success, while our sustainable practices and community-focused initiatives reflect our dedication to making a meaningful impact beyond the office.
We don’t have a strict dress code – we trust our team to use their discretion. We ask that staff dress smartly and professionally, ensuring that they’re always presenting themselves in a way that’s appropriate for a professional office environment. For client meetings or other formal occasions, we do expect staff to dress accordingly.
Our standard working hours are from 9:00am to 5:00pm. We also offer a hybrid working model that allows you to split your time between the office and home.
While we encourage flexibility, we ask that full-time employees attend the office at least three days per week to maintain strong connections with the team and collaborate effectively. We believe this balance helps promote productivity, connection, and a healthy work-life balance.
While we don’t have a formal mentorship programme, every new employee is paired with a ‘buddy’ when they join the firm. This ensures you have a friendly and supportive point of contact to help you settle in and navigate your role.
Beyond the initial onboarding, mentorship is naturally embedded in our culture. Advice and guidance are always available, whether through informal conversations with colleagues or structured support from senior team members. As you progress in your career, we’re committed to providing tailored advice, particularly when you’re preparing to apply for promotions or take on new challenges, so you can continue to grow and succeed with confidence.
Currently, we do not offer opportunities for candidates from outside the UK. However, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and encourage applications from individuals who are already eligible to work in the UK. We value the unique perspectives and experiences that a diverse team brings to our firm and are always open to considering how we can better support talented individuals from different backgrounds in the future.
We don’t offer unpaid experience or internships currently, as we believe in recognising and valuing the contributions of everyone who works with us. Our focus is on providing meaningful opportunities that are fair, rewarding, and aligned with our commitment to supporting career development. While unpaid roles are not part of our approach, we encourage aspiring legal professionals to explore our paid opportunities and training pathways. These are designed to provide valuable experience and support for your future career.
At present, we do not accept unsolicited applications from agencies.
While we value the contributions agencies have made, we’re not actively encouraging further agency contact at this time as we focus on developing our internal strategies.
We have an annual intake of trainees, for those wishing to begin their legal career.
The number of training contracts we offer varies each year, as it depends on the needs of the business and the opportunities available within our teams. We carefully consider the number of positions to ensure that each trainee receives the support, mentorship, and practical experience needed to build a strong foundation for their legal career.
This approach allows us to provide high-quality training and meaningful work, ensuring our trainees are well-prepared for success within the firm and beyond. If you’re passionate about joining a supportive and dynamic firm like Rothera Bray, we encourage you to apply and showcase what makes you stand out.
An advert will be posted on the Careers page of our website and on our social media where we invite applicants, both internal and external, to apply for our training contracts by providing their CV and a personal statement. We will shortlist those applicants to attend a trainee assessment day (details below). Following the assessment day, a further shortlist of applicants will go through to the interview stage within the same week. Successful applicants will be notified a few days later.
Applicants will arrive for breakfast and introductions followed by individual presentations. We would then generally have a team-building exercise followed by lunch and a chance to get to meet colleagues from Rothera Bray and further group exercises in the afternoon.
If you’re looking for a firm that values its people, promotes equal opportunities, and is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, Rothera Bray is the place for you.
Explore opportunities with us and become part of a team that works hard, celebrates success, and makes a real impact – for clients, communities, and the planet.
