Jo Goddard has over 20 years experience specialising in all aspects of residential conveyancing and regularly acts for clients on sales, purchases, remortgages and transfers of equity and is part of one of the largest conveyancing teams across the East Midlands. She works out of our Nottingham city centre office, in the Lace Market.

Jo understands that buying or selling a property is not something clients do every day. By adopting a personal, approachable and understandable service for clients, Jo aims to make the conveyancing process as efficient and stress-free as possible, using her professional experience to drive the process forward smoothly from start to finish.

Jo’s experience includes acting for both purchasers and sellers of all types of properties, including freehold and leasehold properties, new build properties and buy to let investments.

  • Jo started her career in the legal profession with Eversheds Sutherland in 1995 where she remained until 2002
  • Worked for Rupert Bear Murray Davies between 2002 and 2006, and Flint Bishop between 2006 and 2008
  • In 2013 she joined Fraser Brown and remained there until 2020 (during which time they were acquired by Knights)
  • Joined Rothera Bray as a Senior Associate in 2021

Last year we decided to downsize from a three bed semi with a large garden to a two bed apartment with a tiny garden. We had been in our previous house for 35 years; both our daughters grew up there.Due to illness the garden had become completely overgrown and the house had boxes that “needed sorting” all over ( am am neurodivergent ). The move was a good thing but because of the time we were there it was hard.We were offered online solicitors by the Estate Agent but I wanted a “bricks and mortar” Nottingham based Solicitor.From the initial phonecall we were made to feel valued customers. Johanna Goddard was our solicitor with her team. As it is a leasehold property it seemed like everyone wanted a say in the lease which delayed things. I finally asked if we could move on the 12th December. Johanna and her team made it work and we moved on the 12th of December 2024.Couldn’t have done it without them. I’ve said we are never moving again but I would say : don’t go online for an important thing like buying a house; choose real people that you can go and see, you can’t do much better than Rothera Bray ( ask if you can have Johanna handle your sale )Sorry to Johanna’s team but I can’t remember your names - I should have written them down at the time but you were great too.

Moved house in Feb this year, having started the process in October 2023. I've moved house 3 times now, using a different solicitor each time as I'd never found one I felt very impressed with. When using the previous 2 solicitors for house moves, I always felt like I had to constantly chase, which made what was already a stressful process even more stressful. Jo Goddard at Rothera Bray was pleasantly different by comparison. She kept me up to date throughout, she showed empathy when we had some challenging times and I just generally felt she wanted to do the best for us. I don't plan on moving again, but if we ever were to, I would definitely consider Rothera Bray again

Johanna, Samantha and Melissa were exceptional in the work they did for us when we sold our holiday cottage. There were a few extra issues to deal with and they did so professionally and very competently. Always approachable and available to give advice or clarify issues for us - even though we were abroad in Australia for 2 months during the whole process. We have used Rothera Bray several times previously and would recommend them to anyone.
