Social Responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility at Rothera Bray
Charity and Community
We believe that being a responsible business means making a meaningful difference in the communities we serve.
Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme focuses on:
- Charity and community
- Staff health and wellbeing
- Equality, diversity and inclusion
- Sustainability
By working together with local charities, community organisations and our own people, we aim to make a lasting difference wherever we can.

Deeds That Make a Difference
In 2024, we launched our Deeds That Make a Difference campaign, bringing together our charity partnerships, pro bono work and environmental projects under one initiative designed to create a lasting positive impact across the communities in which we work.
To see the impact we’ve made through Deeds That Make a Difference, watch our video below:
Through this initiative, we’ve made meaningful contributions to a wide range of charitable organisations.
In 2025 alone, we donated more than £39,000 to charitable causes, including:
Access to justice and pro bono work
Providing access to legal advice for those who may not otherwise be able to obtain it forms an important part of our CSR commitment.
Many of our solicitors and legal professionals volunteer their time through free legal advice clinics, helping members of the public access professional legal guidance within their local communities.
We currently provide support through:
- Age UK Nottingham & Nottinghamshire
- West Bridgford Advice Centre
- Cotgrave Advice Centre
- Radcliffe-on-Trent Advice Centre
- The University of Law
Our commitment to pro bono work has also been recognised nationally, with several members of the firm being included on the Pro Bono Recognition List, acknowledging their contribution to improving access to justice.
Free wills schemes
In addition to our legal clinics, our Wills, Probate and Trusts team supports several charitable organisations through free wills schemes, helping individuals plan for the future while providing an opportunity to leave a gift to causes that matter to them.
We’re proud to work with:
- Age UK Nottingham & Nottinghamshire
- Cancer Research UK
- Treetops Hospice
- Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust
- Leicester Hospitals Charity
Through these partnerships, we’re able to support both local and national charities while helping members of the public access important legal services.
Supporting local charities and community initiatives
Throughout the year, the firm takes part in a wide range of fundraising, community and volunteering activities.
These include:
- Participating in the Nottingham Legal Walk and Derby Legal Walk, raising funds to support access to justice services
- Taking part in the Derby Business Games, helping to raise money for local charitable causes while bringing together the regional business community
- Supporting the establishment and ongoing development of Derby Kids’ Camp, helping to provide memorable experiences for disadvantaged children
- Sponsoring Nottingham Pride, supporting diversity, inclusion and equality within our communities
- Entering teams into the Nottingham Business Fives Football Tournament, combining team building with charitable fundraising
- Volunteering at Leicester South Foodbank, where colleagues from our Leicester and Market Harborough offices spend time supporting the charity’s important work
Charity Committee
Our Charity Committee is made up of representatives from across all our offices and plays a key role in coordinating fundraising and volunteering activities throughout the year.
The committee aims to organise or support community activities on a quarterly basis, including:
- Easter egg donation drives for local children’s hospitals
- Charity bake sales
- Fundraising events and office initiatives
- Partnerships with local charities and community groups
- Supporting Sharewear, including collection points across our offices for clothing donations
These initiatives give our people the opportunity to support causes they care about while making a positive difference within their local communities.
Staff health and wellbeing
We recognise that our people are our greatest asset and are committed to creating a supportive and flexible working environment where individuals can thrive both professionally and personally.
To support staff wellbeing, we offer hybrid and flexible working arrangements, generous annual leave, including additional time off between Christmas and New Year, and a culture that promotes a healthy work-life balance. We’re proud to be a Living Wage accredited employer and provide access to a complimentary healthcare scheme for all employees.
We also have trained Mental Health First Aiders across our offices, helping to ensure colleagues have access to support when they need it most.
Our approach to wellbeing forms part of our wider commitment to creating a positive workplace culture where people feel valued, supported and empowered to succeed.

Equality, diversity and inclusion
We’re committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued, respected and empowered to succeed. We celebrate individuality and believe that a diverse workforce strengthens our ability to support our clients, colleagues and communities.
We’re dedicated to providing equal opportunities for all. Promotion and career progression are based on skill, performance and merit, ensuring a fair and transparent approach for all colleagues.
