If you need a document authenticating so it can be used overseas you will usually require the services of a notary. Rothera Bray Solicitors can provide notary public services for both individuals and businesses. Our notaries are fully qualified solicitors and are members of the Notaries Society.

What is a Notary Public?

A Notary Public is internationally recognised and authorised to prepare and certify the signing of various documents. It’s their job to authenticate who you are and what is stated in the document. They can bridge the gap between UK law and overseas law by ensuring that legal documents you rely upon are checked, verified and suitable for your needs.

If you need a document authenticating so it can be used overseas you will usually require the services of a notary.

It is a notary’s role to check all legal documentation and certify that it is suitable for use abroad.  They will be checking the validity of the document and the identity, capacity and whether the person requesting the document is authorised to do so.

Often the signature of the person who has notarised the document and their seal will need to be certified by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (known as an Apostille). This is a service we can also offer.

I am Autistic and have CPTSD (Complex post-traumatic stress disorder). I normally need an intermediary to help me talk to solicitors but not here. I have Gabriella and Lucy. As a team they are the perfect mix. Gabriella is always able to spot when I’m about to have an episode and bring me back to neutral and Lucy’s emails are always Autism friendly. They put in reasonable adjustments I didn’t even ask for like colour coding important parts they need me to concentrate on, consider and respond to. I don’t even need an intermediary with them. They do regular updates which helps keeps me from worrying and most importantly they listen with the intent to comprehend not just respond. If you’re looking for a family solicitor and you have CPTSD or are neurodivergent, these 2 are your best options.

I was updating my Will after twenty years and received professional, friendly and prompt service from Azeem and his paralegal Amy. It was a fairly straightforward will but Azeem was understanding when I kept making sure that the contents were what I wanted with as many obvious bases covered as possible. Excellent conveyancing service. My solicitor was consistently professional, calm and informative throughout the entire process. They gave me clear advice when I wasn’t sure how to respond to the buyer’s solicitor’s questions, and handled every stage of the sale with confidence and care. They remained patient when my first sale fell through and were very supportive during the second sale... The price they quoted was the price I paid even though it was over two years between quote and sale completion.
