Supervision Order
What is a Supervision Order?
A Supervision Order is usually put in place after a local authority has expressed concerns about the welfare of a child and launched a section 47 enquiry and pre-proceedings meeting with the parents or guardian. An order may be put in place if the parents or guardian agree to cooperate with social services and implement measures that will make sure the child is safe and well cared for.
A Supervision Order gives the local authority the ability to monitor a child within the family home and an ability to provide support to the child.
A Supervision Order must be applied for through the court by the local authority, and can only be granted if: it is believed that the child is in harm or is at risk of harm in the future; the child’s parents are causing that harm; or the parents are unable to control the child and consequently cannot protect the child from harm.
At Rothera Bray our experienced child care team are well-versed in helping parents or guardians where an application for a Supervision Order has been made or where a Supervision Order has already been made. We would suggest seeking legal advice early, especially if you want to appeal against the Supervision Order. We can guide you through the whole process including collating and preparing any documents required and representing you at court where necessary.
Why use Rothera Bray where a Supervision Order has been granted?
We can advise parents or guardians on what steps to take if a Supervision Order is applied for or has been granted.
We can advise on whether or not it is appropriate for you to apply to discharge a Supervision Order, including how to prepare an application to the court.
We can offer Legal Aid if eligible.
We can advise you if the local authority has applied for any further orders such as a Care Order or Emergency Protection Order.
We have seven offices across Nottingham, Leicester and Derby all providing family law and child care advice.
We can help you with:
- Supervision Orders
- Care Orders
- Emergency Protection Orders

This divorce started off as a very stressful time for me, but the professional support, on a very specialised subject, provided by Rothera Bray, made all the difference... I can only describe Rebecca as my “GUARDIAN ANGEL” who manifested in human form to offer guidance, support and protection. At the very first telephone call I had with Rebecca, I could sense only fantastic positive vibes, that made me feel comfortable.

This house move for us at my age and health conditions could have been highly stressful as well as physically and mentally challenging. I must give all credit to our representative Deepika Vadher. Her communication was swift and sharp. I genuinely felt assured that my interests were a priority. I am most grateful for such a smooth and swift outcome.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Rothera Bray Solicitors during a challenging divorce process, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Their guidance and support were invaluable, making a difficult time much more manageable. A special shout-out to Rebecca Hudson, my solicitor, who was exceptional throughout the entire process. Rebecca's expertise, compassion, and dedication were evident from our first interaction. She provided clear, practical advice and was always available to answer my questions, no matter how small. Her professionalism and empathy helped me navigate the complexities of divorce with confidence and peace of mind.

I had an outstanding experience with Rothera & Bray, particularly with Sarrina Mills and Tina Rana. They were both incredibly professional and attentive in addressing my queries. They went above and beyond to ensure the smooth exchange of contracts and successful purchase of my property, all while working diligently to complete the process before the stamp duty increase. This is the second time I’ve worked with Rothera Bray, and once again, they have exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend the exceptional services of Sarrina and Tina.
